Minus Minus Minus

just for today:
  • have possible lunch date with old friend later this week (+2)
  • donut left just for me at work was double chocolate from Tim Ho's - honestly it should have had a halo that was a nice bright light to the morning (+1)
  • applied for job with a cover letter addressed to a completely different company (-200)
  • tried to salvage application by re-sending revised cover letter... with the exact same details as the original, except changed the address... that will soooo give the wrong idea... oh well (-300)
  • realized i am wearing underwear inside out (-1000)

Yeeeah

I did the Grouse Grind yesterday. In 2 hours and 27 minutes. It's a record. Last time I did it, like 3 years ago, I did it in almost 3 hours. This time, I was prepared. I stopped a lot to catch my breath - and catch my breath I did, I even had a full 591 ml of water with me which I rationed on the way up.

Then spent the next two hours or so at Altitudes Bistro enjoying lunch and the view.

Notice there are no pics of me because *I* was holding the camera.

Today I also filled a life-long ambition (life long since December 2003...), that is, to ride the Stanley Park miniature railway. We (Scampbe, his sister, and I) used little Simon as an excuse to ride it. Was fun! I can imagine how much more fun it would be at Christmas and New Years when they decorate the forest.

< sigh >

Mission: Unaccomplished

So today (yesterday) turned out to be the exact opposite of what was supposed to transpire, and yet, it felt like a full day of... activity. Leisurely, surely...

We (Scampbe, Blondie, MV, Fio, and I) were *supposed* to get up at a decent hour and hike the Grouse Grind - for the view and the beer mainly, not the exercise. But seeing as though the weather wasn't cooperating we had made alternate plans to hang in case of inclement weather. MV ended up not joining at all because she had made her mind to cook her boyfriend dinner, and I woke up at 8:30 or so and decided that since we couldn't see the mountain it wasn't worth climbing. Plus it was raining. So a no-go on the Grind.

Went for crepes instead, at Le Bretagne. And I think that started off the whole eating theme for the day. While waiting for our table we sat at Starbucks for coffee. I had a tall mocha that had to be made three times because the first one had whipped cream (I had specifically requested without), and the second one I dropped when my bag shifted. The third one I drank without incident.

The food. Strawberry crepes with cream cheese. A bag of chips. Roast beef and mashed potatoes and veggies in cream sauce for dinner. Ice cream. A donut. Four hours of Dead Like Me plus the Desperate Housewives finale and Grey's Anatomy. It was a really rainy day. And I am still kinda wired, even after two glasses of red wine.

Yikes.

Things I have been doing a lot of lately:

  • complaining about my job
  • threatening to go on a one-man strike
  • talking about food and eating habits of certain people (a can of corn? that's it?)
  • eating out (well not so much this week)
  • hanging out with scott
  • thinking about vacations (where am i going? when shall i go? how much is the flight?)
  • going shopping and not buying anything (friggin' Winners... I give up)
  • working (busy at work)
  • working (sitting in on shouting matches)
  • thinking about what i'm going to do with all that overtime (1 extra day of vacation!)
  • thinking about working (complaints, overbookings, availability)
  • not going to the gym (tired)
  • not going diving (no diving buddy)
  • listening to Keane (and singing along, "If onnnnnly I don't bend and breaeaeak...")

Things I ought to be doing more of:

  • listening to the other CDs in my car and expanding my musical horizons? Nah.
  • finding a diving buddy that doesn't work on the weekends (toughie)
  • not stressing about work, they don't pay me enough to
  • taking my overtime and chillaxin' - maybe take up playing video games as a passtime?
  • blogging while multitasking
  • apparently, i need to work on my "conflict management skills"
  • go shopping more? Nah.
  • book my bloddy vacations already (we'll see.)
  • eat something on my "Tre doesn't eat" list - maybe start with something easy - like black licorice - NOT!
  • job prospecting

Flying Pear...

...has taken flight again, except in Japanese form. If you can read Japanese, or have access to a good online translator, read Fri's Japanese Blog. It looks interesting but I can't make heads or tails of it!

But... why??

You can't really read what it says from this picture, but I am puzzled as to why a bottle of water needs "Nutritional Facts" posted on its label. It notes:
Calories 0
Fat 0 g/0%
Carbohydrates 0 g/0%
Proteins 0 g
Then goes on to say "Not a significant source of saturated fat, trans fat, cholestoral, fibre, sugars, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium or fat."

Why should it? It's water. Sheesh. Posted by Hello

Mr/Mrs Musson should ignore this post!

This is Keane at the QE Theatre, May 10, 2005. This was a good concert. I took Scampbe to it and he enjoyed it. I think moreso because the opener, some singer/songwriter, was horribly bad. A wannabe "cross between Matt Good and Green Day" - without the Matt Good Charisma. Nonetheless, it was a good concert, really. Tom Chaplin has lost some weight, and his voice was great, very energetic. Except for the fact that although he was moving around quite a bit on stage, you kinda had this feeling that he was holding back just a little bit and that he really was on the verge of seriously busting a move. Good times, though. Posted by Hello

Afterwards we went to Chambar for a couple drinks and discussion on gay marriage. What that had to do with the concert is beyond me, but entertaining as well.

You asked for pictures...

I'm trying out this new picture posting thing called Hello. Seems to be working ok but I can only post one pic per post, making it necessary for me to edit and delete some things. Working around it... but I can post pics a bit easier now! Yes. If you click the pic itself, you get to see a larger version of it.

What came first, the chicken... or the egg? The goatee or the bleach?

Yeah, so, I saw Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy last Sunday and was really impressed with Sam Rockwell's version of Zaphod Beeblebrox. He is virtually unrecognizable - as himself at least... but also looked damn familiar. Then I realized why.

Oh, Chad. 'Nuf said.

Wow I'm a bit of a retard today.

This morning I had planned to take my phone charger to work to charge my phone whilst at work, yet somehow failed to bring my phone with me. This afternoon at lunch I went home to eat lunch and pick up my phone, and for some reason took the charger out of my bag... and left that at home this time around.

S-M-R-T.

However. My hair smells great.
